How I Drink More Water In a Day

If you’ve asked where have I been, I’ve been drinking my water and minding my business - literally. I was reminded to start my days with lemon water, which turned into a daily habit of consuming more water - period. My body thanks me; especially my skin. Here is how I drink more water in a day.

Drink water first thing in the morning

Drinking water, room temperature lemon water to be exact, first thing in the morning is good for your body. Lemon water awakens your senses, providing a boost of energy that keeps you alert throughout the day. Starting first thing in the morning keeps me going back for more. With lemons being rich in Vitamin C, there are so many health benefits to drinking lemon water. Here’s what I like:

  • Promotes hydration

  • Boosts immune system

  • Aids in digestion

  • Skin health

  • Supports weight loss

Drinking infused water

Drinking plain water is cool but adding fresh fruit and/or herbs is leveling up. In addition to enhancing the taste, different variations of infused water also has a number of health benefits. Play around with recipes and find what your taste buds love. One of my current faves is lemon + cucumber + basil.

Make it sexy or visually appealing

I’m not sure the science behind it, but if the water is in a cute or fancy cup - I’m drinking more of the H20. At home, I now only drink water in a mason jar or a stemless wine glass. Both glasses serves a 16.9 fl oz bottle of water. Nestle Pure Life purified water is my current drink of choice. I aspire to one day drink alkaline water daily, however my current coins are not long enough for that investment.

Drink it with a straw

I find when I drink water with a straw, I’m able to drink way more faster vs from the plastic water bottle alone. After a few long sips with the straw, I'm refilling my glass within several minutes. I purchased two packs of metal straws from Homegoods and this also helped change the game for me. Definitely on rich auntie vibes sipping my water with my pinky up, ha. And when the water is chilled, hitting the meal straw - whew, the drinking experience is just different. Here’s a link to similar straws.

I hope my new water drinking habits also help you to drink more water throughout the day. Let me know how you drink your water in the comments below. Pour it up, pour it up.
